One Step Closer!!

I called the wedding coordinator at our chosen location today. Her name is Rhonda, she talks almost as fast as I do. :) She was excited to hear that we had chosen their location and penciled us in on our chosen date. She said she would call me sometime next week to set up a contract meeting. That will probably be the weekend of the 29th since they have their first wedding of the season next weekend. I cant wait to sit down, ask all my 400 questions, and put the deposit down. I want to be one step closer to having it set in stone.

First DIY Project Complete

I've been lurking on The Knot for quite some time and I came across these DIY necklaces and thought they were super cute. My MOH Christa loves pearls and I thought they would be great for her. I decided to make them today. I say them because I couldnt decide between the white beads and the cream ones. So, when in doubt, buy both. Luckily, theyre only $2 each at Walmart.. I got the stringing wire, crimp beads, jump rings and ribbon at Michaels. I had leftover beads, so I made her a matching bracelet, I alternated the white and cream beads, so she can wear it with either necklace. I love the way they turned out, I cant wait to see them with Christa's BM dress.

Location, Location, Location...and a Date!

Nick and I had a chat tonight and I told him I didnt want to look at any more locations.(Since I was the one doing most of the looking) We decided that we like the first location we visited best. We're going with Saddleback Golf Club in Firestone, CO on 09-10-11. It's beautiful and it has everything we wanted. Luckily, the date we want is still available, or it was a week ago.
I can't wait to put down a deposit so we can tell everyone we have a date and location!

Monogram Hell

Our laptop died last week, so after buying this one with 'wedding money,' and my moms help, I realized that it has powerpoint on it. Its awesome because thats what all my fellow knotties use. So anyway, I started making monograms today...geez, why shouldnt I just pay someone else to do this? It's not that its difficult, it's that I cant make a decision. I like them all. Its just going to get harder the more I make, but I CANT STOP making them. Here are a few so far...

More Location Visits

My mom and I decided to check out a couple more locations today while Nick was at work. We started at Heritage Todd Creek Golf Club in Thornton, Colorado, about 45 minutes north of Denver. We decided to check it out because I met with the representative at the Bridal Show and she assured me they could work with my budget. She sent me a quote for their patio instead of the ballroom, which I thought was a great idea until we looked at it. It wasnt covered at all, so all our poor guests would be sitting in the sun all day. Plus, because its a fairly new golf course there were no trees. Lets just say we moved on.

Next was the location that Nick and I visited a couple weeks ago, Saddleback Golf Club. My mom hadnt seen it and it was only another 20 minutes from where we were. I still love it, and luckily so did my mom. We were also lucky enough to meet with Rhonda, the catering manager. She's great, and my mom pointed out that theyre so eager to help. They also mentioned that theyre going to be doing some renovations on the pavilion sometime this year. They want to glass in the pavilion and build bathrooms and a bridal suite onto the back. I kinda hope they dont glass it in, but bathrooms would be nice! :)

Since I had a couple more location on the list we moved on to Boulder Country Club which is about an hour north and west of Denver. First of all its impossible to find, and secondly, its SO outdated. It was a definite no.

Then we drove an hour the other direction to Green Valley Ranch Golf Club, it's also about an hour outside of Denver, but to the north and east. I was pleasantly surprised. I liked the clubhouse and pavilion. Unfortunately I dont know the site fees yet, so we'll see.

It's going to be tough to beat Saddleback at this point. I love so much about it. The views, the staff, the pavilion, the gazebo, the fact that its a golf course, and so on. So, if I have any free time, I'm on the internet searching for ideas, ideas and more ideas. I'm really enjoying the process, but I think if I dont stop looking soon, Im going to end up with more ideas than I can handle. LOL!

Anyway, today I got the idea that I wanted Nick to wear a different tie than his groomsmen and the fathers. I started my search, and to my surprise I found the perfect one in about 3 minutes. :) I showed it to Nick and luckily he loved it too. Woo hoo! I can't wait to order it.

Bridal Show = Thumbs Down...Christa's Dress = Thumbs Up!

My mom, Maid of Honor, Christa, and I decided to go to the Rocky Mountain Bridal Show this weekend. Can I just say I found it to be a complete waste of time and money. I guess I can say Ive been to one now.

But on the upside, Christa wanted to go look at bridesmaid dresses after the show, and we found her dress. I was so excited that they had samples that fit her in my actual colors, yippee! She'll order it sometime next year. (For some reason I couldnt take a straight picture yesterday, what is wrong with me?)

Pomander Test Flowers

I am really liking the idea of tissue paper pomanders on shepherd's hooks for the aisle. I was curious how hard they are to make, so I did a couple test flowers tonight. Theyre not so bad, but if I decide to make them, I'm SO gonna need my MOH to help! The white ones are my test flowers and the color ones belong to futuremrsdudley55. She has made a great tutorial.

Our First Location Visit

After breakfast this morning, Nick and I were contemplating what to do today, for little to no money. That being said, we decided to go see our first wedding location. Saddeback Golf Club in Firestone, Colorado, is about an hour north of Denver. They have a great gazebo for the cermony, set next to a lake with a fountain. The reception site is a pavilion and is just up the hill from the gazebo. The pavilion is built of stone & wood and is beautiful. Sadly it was raining when we went, so we couldnt see the mountains, but I'm sure we will visit again.

I Just Couldn't Wait

Yes, Im an Aries...I just couldnt wait to order Nick's tie. But here's my somewhat logical bridal reasoning (if there is such a thing?) 1. What if I waited 3 or 4 months and then they didnt carry it anymore, and 2. It's what we're basing the entire wedding off of. We knew our colors were going to be brown and blue but now we have a more specific color blue to compare to. Anyway, we got it today and it's perfect. It looks just like the picture and here is the link if youre interested.

Spending WAY Too Much Time Online...
